Several years ago while browsing in an antique shop, these Paris Porcelain soup bowls called “spring” to me.  I am usually on the lookout for items to complete a set or colour way already in progress, but these stood on their own.  A very soft yellow, unusually highlighted with delicate green and lilac accents, they are generously sized for soup or pasta.  They work beautifully with the La Fleure Yellow depression glass by Tiffin Franciscan and hemstitched linens in Cactus from Pottery Barn.

Daffodils abound in the markets and grocery stores at this time of year, most often in vibrant shades of yellow.  I was lucky to find these buttery yellow variety and immediately thought of the soup bowls.  Switching mental gears, Butternut Squash Soup with Apple, Sage and Bacon was added to the menu for dinner that night.
