It’s the final day of March, and it’s going out like a lion here in Ontario. Yesterday we enjoyed rain, hail, sleet and even a bit of snow.  Thank heaven for spring bulbs.

Pale yellow and green is a fresh and inspiring combination, and this plate by Baum Brother is appropriately named “Springtime”. It was one of the patterns highlighted by Replacements last year in their Spring Newsletter. I’m often inspired by the combinations put together by the people at Replacements. And their website is so much improved with all the photos, I can get lost for hours…

Soft yellow linens and olive wood handled cutlery set off the plate nicely. I purchased the linens many years ago from a shop in Toronto specializing in French linens, and they’ve held up really well. The cutlery is from Sur la Table, and it looks like they have a sale on right now if anyone is interested.

The glasses are Graham Green by Juliska, discontinued, but sometimes available at Replacements. I love the hammered look of the top part of the glass, combined with the twisted striations on the bottom part.

The table accessories were gifts or items we picked up on our travels.  The lovely teapot was a gift from by daughter-in-law, Annie, one Christmas and the beautiful pear-shaped silver compote came from daughter Kirsten, also one Christmas.  Glenn and I picked up the little birds during one of our stays at Blantyre many moons ago. 

The centrepiece is a mix of fully opened white tulips and tiny baby-moon daffodils. Daffodils and tulips don’t get along in the same vase, as the daffodils emit a substance that tulips find offensive. So I put the arrangement together in time for the photo and then separated the warring factions.

April 1 tomorrow, with Easter just around the corner. Yeah!
