Blue and white is a perennially fresh combination. Adding in a touch of yellow makes it even better.
I have only the salad plates in this pattern, Blue Chintz by Spode. Several years ago, Replacements had a four lonely plates, and I purchased them, contrary to my usual “rule” about buying eight or more. I figured I would be able to pick some more up at some point in the future, and that proved to be the case. A seller on e-Bay had another two, and then over time, another two.
In designing this tablescape, I started with a white damask tablecloth to give a clean, white palette, then layered blue placemats, Baronesse White dinner plates by Tirschenreuth and topped the place settings with yellow Depression glass champagne cups in La Fleure Yellow by Tiffin Franciscan.
I played around with how much of the yellow glassware to use – I have the juice glasses (which I use as water glasses), and the water glasses, (which I use as wine glasses).
Portions were much smaller in the Depression. What passed as a wine glass then wouldn’t wet the whistle of a cat, today.
The tulips had opened nicely, and some baby moon daffodils added a touch of the vibrant yellow in the plates.
I added in some ceramic place card holders I picked up many years ago in an antique store. Each one is unique, and they’re all white and yellow. A very feminine touch, I think.
I love the shape of the tea, coffee, milk and sugar in the Baronesse White set. The handles are very delicate and the overall shape is extremely pleasing.
Mother’s Day is approaching, and this would be a good table for a ladies’ lunch in honour of Mom, don’t you think?

What a beautiful table. My grandmother was a Blue Willow collector so blue and white dishes always catch my eye. the yellow is perfect with the blue and white. I like that you often include some pieces that aren’t typically used any longer–sometimes it is the open salts and today the place card holders and the white coffee pieces. Very nice.

What a lovely table. I love blue and white china and pottery. Looking at your glasses, I picked up some similar pattern small depression glass plates at a thrift shop, but they were clear vs yellow. Anyone know how to brighten up the glass as they seem very old and dull ?

I have never seen that Chintz pattern before. It is so beautiful. I am such a fan of blue and yellow. I don’t know about the cat, but, your Depression glass is wonderful. You will just have to keep refilling them.

It’s a modern pattern, (2003ish?) but has the look of an old pattern, doesn’t it? Like you, I really love blue and yellow. I use those yellow glasses a lot. They go with a ton of things.

I gave this blue/ white/ yellow a try at dinner this evening with a chicken dinner for two on light blue patterned Honorine (our everyday china) by Arcopal, pale yellow stemless no name martini glasses for a fruit cup serving, fresh flower centerpiece was white daisies with yellow middles in my Pier 1 white & blue checked flower jug/ pitcher (from Easter collection sold out now) and Pier 1 swirl cobalt blue large water/ wine glasses.
