What fun! London, New York, Paris and Venice are certainly among my favourite cities to visit. Without leaving home, even!
Even more so when our whirlwind adventure includes vintage luggage.
It’s hard to remember which came first in the inspiration. The Rosanna plates (eBay) or the luggage?
Salt and pepper shakers comprise a leather grip and a colourful toiletry bag.
The traveller’s teapot is even more fun:
A miniature leather trunk bag and some fragrant viburnum completed the centrepiece.
Let’s start our journey in London, shall we? The Tower of London beside the Thames River, Big Ben and a member of the Queen’s Guard greet us.
Shall we fly, or take the Chunnel over to Paris to enjoy a lovely meal on a sidewalk cafe?
On to Venice for a relaxing gondola ride near the Rialto Bridge and down to St. Marco’s square.
Before we board the S.S. Martin for our journey back to New York to visit the Statue of Liberty.
Whew! I’m tired and thirsty. Time to enjoy a beverage in Fitz & Floyd Trestle glasses in Indigo.
We will use Sawyer flatware from World Market.
The cheerful plaid tablecloth from HomeGoods reminds us of the ocean blue.
Has all the luggage made it off the ship? One, two, three, four, five bags. Yes, we’ve got it all.
Time for a light meal to celebrate our homecoming. Oh, which city was our favourite? London?
Romantic Paris?
Colourful Venice?
Or vibrant New York?
East or West, Home is Best.

The “mini” luggage makes a very special centerpiece. And beautiful Viburnum never hurts. All in all a lovely whimsical tablescape. Thanks for inviting us along on your journey. CherryKay
Thanks, Chery Kay. It was a fun table to play with!
This is such a fun table! Love the whimsy, love, love, love the luggage!
Thanks Sandra. I was surprised at how well made the luggage was. The pieces are nicely crafted and quite finely made. Thanks for joining on the journey!
Very sweet and whimsical setting. The blue is indeed evocative of the ocean blue. Am I naughty for striking people who hate the smell of flowers from the guest list? lol…by that, I mean that I merely group them in together with the other non-perfume people, and I substitute a little tableau for the flower centerpiece.. It must be sad to be allergically challenged!
Agreed on all front. Perfume allergies are difficult, in more ways than one! I don’t often think of non-floral centrepieces, but this one came together on its own. Of course, the viburnum added some scent, but we could have done without if absolutely necessary. Happily it wasn’t!
Just returned from my 4 country trip. And sooo tired. These are our favourite places to visit. And with luggage like that you won’t have to pay extra. Loved all the miniatures, very sweet. That table cloth is striking and everything you put together. Another fun table. And, once again, great quirky salt and pepper.
Thanks, Maura. I think the salt and pepper inspired the whole table, this time. And once the teapot revealed itself, I was powerless to resist. Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!
What a really fun table, both the dishes and the accessories. Just terrific.
Thanks Lorri. It’s nice to do a little tableau instead of flowers, for a change. I had a lot of fun with it.
