Elise Abrams has a wonderful selection of antique Venetian glass, and this “candy cane” set is perfect for a cheerful spring table.

Caneworking, the process  involved in producing these delightful patterns is complex. Rods of twisted coloured glass are heated and stretched within the body of the piece while it is being shaped. For this bowl and plate set, the artist used separate yellow, blue, green, pink and frosted white rods within a body of clear glass. This skill takes years to perfect and is highly valued.

We chose antique French Blue Cauldon plates and French Blue Venetian water goblets with pink riggerie accents to complement the setting.

This particular collection includes lovely swan-shaped open salts, goblets, small bowls and under-plates plates as well as a decanter and stopper.
