It’s always a bit startling to us how quickly Americans make the transition from Thanksgiving to Christmas decorations in the last week of November. One day it’s all cornstalks and pumpkins, the next day – bang! Lights everywhere.  

On our last night in the Cape before heading back to Canada to prepare for the holidays, we took a drive down to Falmouth. Glenn wanted to show me a parachuting reindeer in lights he had seen earlier in the week. Little did he know this formed only a minute portion of this particular homeowner’s contribution to the season. Being a huge fan of Peanuts, I was very happy to see Snoopy and his doghouse represented.

We had decided to go to the Glass Onion in Falmouth (one of our very favourite restaurants in the Cape) for dinner, It’s elegant yet unpretentious decor is a delight, and the food is outstanding.

When we arrived at the restaurant, the owner, Josh, mentioned that the tree lighting was taking place on the town green that evening. Happily, we had the tripod with us, as we had anticipated taking the shots of the Parachuting Reindeer. Fortified with a splendid meal, we wandered over to the green and snapped away. It was a fine night, not too cold, and we enjoyed ourselves immensely.
