Fall colours usually conjure up visions of greens, golds and rusts, but this year I’m having some purple moments, probably related to all the plums I’ve been using for cooking, such as the Spiced Plum Cake.
Scanning my linen cupboard for inspiration, the plummy shades in this paisley throw jumped out at me, and immediately thought of the purple Juliska glasses both I and my daughter Kirsten have in our collections. Mine are in the Cape so I borrowed hers and paired them with some clear Webb wheel-cut antique goblets from Elise Abrams Antiques.
The paisley throw has many of the same colours as the Devon Rose plates by Wedgwood from Replacements Ltd. I was a little unsure if the white background would be too harsh, but the colours and similar shape outlines of the flowers carried the day.
Deep yellow dinner plates and napkins from Pier One completed the picture. The Dubost olive handled cutlery is from Sur la Table. I bought mine many years ago, but it seems that they still stock it.
I’m sharing this post with Between Naps on the Porch.
