What a name for a china pattern: “Blooming Opulence”. It reminds me of the Ascot horserace scene in My Fair Lady where Eliza Doolittle bellows “Move your blooming arse!”.
The mark on the back of the plate says Blooming Opulence by easylifedesign.it, A bit of Google research tells me it’s an Italian company, located in Brescia, Italy. Not a lot more information is available, and I haven’t come across their wares before. Update: I found EasyLife’s website in Italy, and it looks like they ship all over the world!
I found the salad plates at Bowrings in Canada around Christmastime. I’d gone in to find a couple of extra charger plates for our Christmas Eve table and the pattern caught my eye. The salad plates and some cups were all that were available (at a hefty markdown!) although it seems that there is a dinner plate. The pattern comes with a white background, too, it seems.
I styled the plates with black placemats and peach napkins from Pier 1. With so much floral happening in the plates, I stuck with fairly simple centrepiece arrangements of dried Annabelle Hydrangeas and some alstroemeria.
My oft-used bakelite handled cutlery and Venetian “basket glasses” completed the place settings.
Black and white salt & pepper shakers in the form of a barn and silo added a whimsical touch. They are from Pottery Barn several years ago.
Apologies to everyone for the delay in getting out some posts. I’m travelling right now and secure internet is fairly scarce. I made the mistake a few years ago of working on open wifi and my website got hacked, so I’ve been very cautious ever since. I’ll try and catch up over the next few days. Stay tuned for some Entertablement Abroad posts from sunny Spain.
I’m sharing this post with Between Naps on the Porch.
Love these plates with the peach, and hope we’ll see more of this set in other colour combinations. Have a wonderful holiday. Cheers
Thanks Lynda! So far we’re having a great time. The food…amazing.
I love this aptly named pattern! I especial like the linen mix. Napkins top things off very nicely….and that glassware! Lovely! Looking forward to travel logs!
Hey Mary! Thanks so much. I’m going to work on a travel post now đŸ™‚
What beautiful plates! They make for a very pretty and dramatic table setting.
Many thanks, Joy. The black background really helps with the drama, and where I like it. In a table setting, not in behaviour đŸ™‚
Simply lovely and elegant! Your table reminds me of Old Masters paintings!
Hi Sandra. Thanks so much. Lovely to hear from you. I hope all is well in your world?
Yes, thanks!
So pretty. I love all the contrast and the drama that it brings.
Thanks, Lorri. The plates really jumped out at me when I saw them. I think they’d work with a whole bunch of different colour combinations.
I agree about the color options. It would be fun to see the table done in both the black and the white, maybe alternating around the table.
Those plates remind me of that gorgeous black floral wallpaper that was in style a decade or two ago. I loved your tablescape. It was different and beautiful.
Yes! I remember that wallpaper. Maybe it’ll make a comeback? Hehe.
I love the blooming opulence dinner plates.
Have been able to locate where to purchase them?
Hi Lisa,
I found this website with the products all listed. It’s an Italian site, which makes sense. It looks like they ship all over the world!
