Always on the lookout for individual soup tureens, I was delighted to find these Country Market Accessories by Nikko. Zany, farm animal themed bowls available at a wonderfully reasonable price at Replacements. Yes, please!

What could be more fun for little girls than having lunch from a bowl topped with a Cow, Sheep, Duck or Pig (I foresee the pig will have a lonely existence and not be chosen very often. Poor pig…).

Cheery sunflowers smile on a green checked tablecloth from aeons ago. The Spice striped napkins were from Pier 1 last year, and wonder of wonders – they still have them.

The cutlery is Dubost Olive Wood from Sur La Table, and still in stock. I noticed, however, that World Market had a similar set at a much lower price point.  The rooster salt & pepper shaker were from Williams Sonoma a few years ago, but no longer available. Vagabond House is a good source for pewter table accessories. They have this rooster set on offer, but it ain’t cheap. Yikes!  I notice they have a whole farm theme going on right now, with some lovely pieces.

The dinner plate is Martillo from Pier 1 in a spicy rust colour, now discontinued. The salad plate is Maharana by 222 Fifth, a rich pattern that will take you through the fall and into the winter. I’m always amazed at how two such busy patterns as stripes and paisley go well together, but they do, for some bizarre reason.

Wouldn’t you like to be a little girl again, having soup at Nana’s house out of an animal tureen? Which one would you choose?

I’m sharing this post with Between Naps on the Porch.
