You know the household world order has changed when the 3 lb kitten plunks himself in the middle of the dog’s bed for a nap and the two golden retrievers have to gingerly arrange themselves into the surrounding space.
Sure of his welcome, he bunts up to any of the dogs whenever he feels the need for a little fur-cuddle.
Even Moxie has finally accepted that he’s here to stay. She is still some way off from playing with him, however; she still snarls at him if he catches her unawares, but he is getting incredibly bold with her. He chases her mercilessly, darting out from under furniture and around corners, demanding that she acknowledge him. It earned him a good box on the ears the other day. He’s sporting quite a large bruise near his nose, likely the result of a sharp claw,
He loves to play in the dog bowls, whirling around at top speed.
I’m big enough to go outside! Really! Why is Moxie outside and I’m not? What is she doing? Hey Moxie!! Can I come? Please????
All right then, I’ll go find someone else to bug. Move over, Burton.
He’s also reprising Tigger’s favourite spot, peering around the corner from the dining room
Until something catches his attention. That never takes long!
Then it’s back to his favourite activity. Taking a nap.
After wild bursts of activity, he spends hours in blissful comfort. The sheepskin-like throw is his favourite spot.
Luxuriously stretching and completely relaxed, he snoozes away, his purr rumbling like a motorboat.
Oh, to be a cat!
I’m sharing this post with Between Naps on the Porch.
What a great update. Your goldens appear to be very patient. One of our cats is great friends with the dogs but the other, not so much. What a cutie.
The two older ones, Burton and Taylor, are very patient with him. They’re twelve and littermates, so have been together for a long time and have seen the comings and goings of lots of pets and kids. Our youngest Golden, Churchill is six and a bit of a drama King. He pouts when the attention is not all on him, or when of our kids’ dogs visit. He’s not quite so keen on Dundee, but tolerates him. We are enjoying every minute of the kitten. It’s whipping by. He’ll be big all too soon.
Helen,
I love your blog today. Of course, I and my family have always been in love with orange tabbies. Those little boys wiggle their way into our hearts. Your precious furry family is so beautiful.. Thank you for sharing all the photos which brought many smiles to me this morning.
Very joyful to have seen your family, Thanks!
They bring us so much joy, Patricia, and keep us in stitches of laughter. I’m so glad we can share it. Have a lovely day!
A sweet, sweet post! We had a black lab who befriended a ferrell yellow tabby who would sneak in through the doggie door for some cuddles. Their friendship lasted until they both passed away. I miss seeing them curled up together. Your photos reminded me of their unexpected companionship! Absolutely darling……..

Dogs and cats do get along well together, don’t they Rosie? What a lovely story about your black lab and the yellow tabby cat. Sounds like a wonderful friendship. Our little calico, Ronnie (who is not in any of the pictures as she’s very shy) cleans the golden’s faces. She plants her claws firmly behind their ears and licks all around their eyes until they’re clean enough to satisfy her. I can almost hear her muttering “How could your mother send you out looking like that?”
I am hopelessly in love with Dundee. He is too precious! Please, please, please continue to do updates on him. Thank you so much for sharing him and your other furry ones.
That makes two of us, Bev. He’s quite captured my heart. He’s growing like a weed!
Oh, the sublime joy of an orange kitty! I’m enjoying watching him grow, and eagerly waiting for him to become my favorite Tablescape Cat!!
Right now his assistance is less than helpful. “Give that back, Dundee! Leave that alone, Dundee! Oh no, watch out!!!”.
Helen,
What an adorable children’s book this would make!
Very heartwarming… the continuing story of Dundee et al !
Sometimes I feel like I live in the middle of a children’s story, Kathi! What a zoo this place is, as you and Ron know. 🙂
Dear Ms. Kain,
Dundee must be getting out, it appears he has taken up modeling for Pier 1. https://www.pier1.com/christmas-cat-salad-plate/3668341.html#q=christmas%2520cat&origin=gridswatch.

I love that plate! The cat looks equally diabolical to Dundee!
