They’re growing up too quickly! Dundee is now north of six pounds and bigger than our little Calico, Ronnie. Still utterly diabolical, he’s climbing screens, baiting the other cats and snoozing his days away. At just over 12 weeks, Clementine is an astonishing 20+ pounds and eating like a horse. She’s moved from Pork Chop to Furry Rump Roast.
We’ve enjoyed their “help” getting ready for Christmas. Now, what have we here?
Dad! Dad! Whatcha doing??
Are you sure that’s safe? I’ve got the toolbox right here! What do you want me to pass?
What kind of screwdriver did you say? Robertson? Phillps?
Good thing we rescued this ornament. Mmmmm, delicious. Want some, Dundee?
This Christmas preparation gig is exhausting. I’ll just stretch out and take a nap
Stretch a little further.
And do the fully Andy Warhol.
Let me step outside and check the backyard for intruders before I settle in.
I’ve found and captured their break-in tools. We should be safe. Whew!.
So now I can relax and catch a snooze.
It’s a lot of work growing up! Don’t you find it worrying?
Not in the least. Just chill.
That advice can apparently be taken too far. Behold Dundee in a dead sleep, right before he rolled off the couch. His startled expression upon hitting the floor was priceless. Wish I’d caught it on camera.
He may be a lot bigger, and a cool cat, but he still loves his cuddles from Taylor.
Beatrice, one of Entertablement’s readers, shared this video of Simon’s Cat, that perfectly captures cats “helping at Christmas”. Thank you, Beatrice.
I hope you’ve enjoyed our little pet break in your preparations for the holiday season. My friends in the retail business tell me this weekend and next are the busiest of the whole year. Yikes. With any luck, you’re out of the fray, catching a few minutes of respite, munching on some Christmas goodies or watching a Christmas movie such as Love Actually or The Holiday while leisurely wrapping some gifts. However you’re spending it, please have a safe and happy weekend.
I’m sharing this post with Between Naps on the Porch.
Oh, Helen, this post is just great. Love all the photos of the new babies. They are sure growing up quickly.
Sniff, sniff…I can’t believe how quickly they’re growing! Still awfully cute, but about to enter the “gappy tooth phase”. Lol.
Best blog ever!!! Can’t wait for these updates. Clementine looks soooo sweet, but Dundee has stolen my heart. Please continue these updates! With your pics and captions, you would have a great book. Find a publisher!
Thanks Beverly. I appreciate the feedback, because I hesitated about publishing this one this morning – not sure how many people are interested in photos of our fur-crowd… I just snap away at random moments, sometimes lucky enough to get the photos not blurry! There is a lot of motion involved and that’s not my forte. :).
Very amusing and I love the photo of Dundee and Taylor together.
I bet you’re glad you don’t have Simon’s cat! Have a very happy Christmas and we’ll see you in early January.
Sometimes it seems like Simon’s cat is actually Dundee. What a destructo-squad he is at times!
Enjoy your Christmas Maura; all the best to you and the entire family. Are you back home yet?
We’re on the cape for the weekend. Doctor yesterday and dental cleaning Mon then down to VA on the 21st until boxing day and back to CT for a few days to pack for our winter sun and back mid March. Stay warm and we’ll catch up early Jan before we leave. Take care.
I love this post! It’s such a great tribute to Christmas, pets, and the people they own. The picture of Glenn being helped by Clementine could have been John the other day with the exact same level of “help,” but from from a black curly coated dog. 🙂 The other night we hunkered down with our pups and watched Love Actually, which has been my favorite Christmas movie for years! This post is so full of Christmas spirit – thank you for that!
Dogs are like kids that way, aren’t they Mary? Nothing delights them more than having us down at their eye level. And we watch Love Actually every year. I ran into Bill Nighy AGAIN in London this last trip. He must live around where we stay. I was in Hatchard’s bookstore coveting a pile of books and looked up to find him perusing the same table. Idiotically, I said, “Oh, it’s you again!” He was gracious and self-effacing, exactly as before.
Dear Helen, Love this post. You don’t have to be an animal lover to appreciate your animal stories.. I’m so glad that you decided to post it. Would love to see more of the same.
I loved this post. I have 2 elderly, spoiled house dogs and an outside community cat that comes inside daily for his nap on one of the dogs’ beds. He then asks to go back outside to brag to the less brave of his following that he once again stared into the eyes of the enemy and won. I will always enjoy posts that include pets.
Such a sweet post—and a great reminder of the memories of ‘critters’ long past who participated (attempted to destroy) in Christmas. Cute photos…and you do have to post—the minor disasters as they participate, lol!
Love you pet pictures. Thank you for a glimpse into a fun day with your two helpers.
Speaking of Bill Nighy, I just watched him on Amazon Prime in
“Worricker”; a great part for him as a MI5 agent. Love his work.
Merry Christmas, Patty
Thanks, Patricia! They’ve provided a lot of fun this Christmas Season, even with the constant vigilance with Clementine’s housebreaking. You forget how often a puppy has to be reminded!
We love Bill Nighy’s work, too, and really enjoyed his role in Their Finest. He is so gracious. We met him the first time on one of our earlier trips, at an Italian restaurant on Piccadilly. We were startled to run almost smack into him and quickly assured him no selfies were being requested. He chatted with us for some time – he’s very modest and self-effacing. Utterly charming.
Merry Christmas to you and yours.
