If we can’t have a parade, we can certainly enjoy a celebratory St. Patrick’s Day Tea in the comfort of our homes.

Comfort food takes centre stage.

And for those who want something a bit stronger, Irish Coffee (photo and recipe courtesy of the BBC)

The menu is a bit short on vegetables, perhaps. And it’s quite heavy on the starch. But when the world is going to hell in a handcart, I think carbs are exactly what’s called for, along with a slathering of delicious whipped cream. And whiskey.

In honour of St. Paddy, the table sports a green and white theme, starting with the green paisley throw, purchased many years ago.

As to the tableware, Mikasa’s English Countryside dinner plates form the base with Gien’s Fleur de Chine salad plates on top.

The individual lidded soup tureens are Mikasa’s French Countryside.

Though this is an Irish celebration, the tableware is taking us on a multi-country tour.

The Irish soda bread is cozied up inside a basket and a linen napkin decorated with ivy.

And the Beef Stew Braised with Guinness awaits us in the large footed tureen, also by Mikasa, but this one is their Antique White pattern.

Cheerful white tulips and fragrant white hyacinths in ironstone pitchers add to the spring setting. They may not be shamrocks, but they are putting on the green.

White hellebores from the garden add some delicate charm. What a welcome sight they were as the snow receded last week!

Baronesse White by Tirschenreuth‘s teapot, creamer, and sugar bowl provide some elegance; Mikasa Antique White mugs await their steaming beverages, be they coffee or tea.

The green water glasses are a new addition, by  Hearth and Hand with Magnolia. They were an eBay purchase early this year. I love the lusciously deep green.

The plaid napkins came into the fold, so to speak, a few years ago from Pier 1.

For some odd reason, I have only seven of them, so I added in a green linen napkin from Pottery Barn to adorn the place setting at one end of the table.

What do you think? Will it do? Not quite green beer, but warm, cozy and spring-like.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone. Sláinte!

I’m sharing this post with Between Naps on the Porch.
