After several weeks in dry dock, the good ship Entertablement is set to sail once more. The captain of the ship has been holed up in her cabin finishing The Book, and my gum, it’s done! The last recipe has been recorded and the final setting has been described. Final edits are needed before the print button is pushed. I will let everyone know where and how it will be available as soon as I know more myself.
Meanwhile, let’s get cooking, table setting and armchair travelling once more.
Due North, by 222 Fifth is a seafaring pattern of which I have only the appetizer plates, featuring four different maps. The clean simplicity of a navy and white pattern is so welcome in summer.
This one centres around southeastern North America and the North Atlantic Ocean.
Africa with a snick of the Indian Ocean
Northwestern Europe, including the British Isles and the North Sea.
and Southeast Asia.
Collecting all the travelling kit for the centrepiece was a lot of fun. From suitcases and spyglasses.
To a compass, complete with leather case.
Even an hourglass!
The oversized placemats frame Brasserie blue-banded dinner plates and appropriately named Pacifica dinner plates, both from Williams Sonoma. The nautical napkins complete the theme.
It’s good to be out an about once more.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July weekend. Our weather was kind of crummy; after a week of glorious sunshine and balmy temperatures, the rain and fog descended on Cape Cod, with some bursts of sunshine interspersed. Oh well, you take what you get with the weather. Off now for a foggy and damp early morning beach walk, and will no doubt return with very soggy pups. Eau de pooch, here we come.
I’m sharing this post with Between Naps on the Porch and Karin’s Kottage for Centreoiece Wednesday.
This was a great way for me to vicariously travel this summer since we had to cancel a few trips. I do love the way you put the blues together and loved your props, especially the hour glass. Looking so forward to your book! Bill is recuperating very slowly but will eventually be better. Nasty little tick. Take care!
So glad to see your post! I missed them! Love the tablescape! You have the best collection of napkins. Take care.
The best part about napkins is they’re not breakable. You can stack them in clear plastic bins so they don’t get crushed and voila! Ready to take their part in the production.
So glad to hear Bill is on the mend. He’s had quite a horrid time of it!
Aren’t we all dying to get back to travelling? Can’t wait.
As usual, everything about this tablescape is perfect! I can’t wait for the details on your book!
You are too kind! Things are coming together on the printing end, so we should have news shortly! 🙂
Dear Helen,
Love those saturated blues…but what happened to the last pic? I assumed your silence had to do with the book; glad you can rest a bit now. This table is just perfect for us, considering our month of turmoil. Travel is really weird these days, I can tell you. I’m looking forward to holing up, doing some gardening, and looking at your beautiful pictures. Thanks!
Thanks, Beatrice. I hope you’re more settled after a few hectic months of house-related packing and shifting. Is all in order now?
Love all the pretty blues – always perfect for summer! At first glance I thought maybe the appy plates were part of the Caskata series, but I see they are 222 Fifth. Lovely. I too am waiting for the details of your book!
They do look very much like the Caskata series, don’t they? I have my eye on their navy and white rooster plates. Lol. Thanks for stopping by, Kim.
What a fun and creative tablescape idea! I really like the plates. Our trips to Italy have been cancelled as well…so sad. I would love to have you join my Centerpiece Wednesday Linky party and share this post with us! https://karinskottage.com/2020/07/welcome-to-centerpiece-wednesday-july-8.html Hope to see you there!
Karin
