After a decade of creating content for Entertablement, I have learned a number of things, principally about the various tasks associated with publishing blogs, books and magazines. My preferences, in order:
Love: dreaming up designs for table settings, arranging flowers, setting tables, experimenting with new recipes, travel photography
Neutral: hauling table accoutrements, grocery shopping and food prep, kitchen clean-up, processing photographs
Loathe with the heat of a thousand suns: technology for Kindle. I. Give. Up.
Entertablement is pleased to present our Spring Quarterly 2022. Simply click on the link and the publication will magically appear.
We have also converted the Autumn and Winter editions of our Quarterly to flipbooks. You can view them on your desktop, iPad or other mobile devices; no special downloads or apps are required.

Helen, Thank you for sharing your beautiful seasonal flipbooks. They are awesome. I love the gorgeous table settings and the tempting recipes. They make me want to tie on an apron, dig out some ingredients and get cooking! of course I’d have to set that food on a festively set table.

You’ve really outdone yourself this time. Love love love “flipping through” the “pages.” (Z Gallerie has long used a similar format.) Although May Day celebrations have died out in the US, in Bavaria many villages have a huge permanent maypole in the town square. In the early 60s at my US grammar school we always danced around the maypole, so your writeup brings tender memories. in 2000, whilst driving to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and listening to Bavarian Radio, I heard again the very tune we used to dance to.
Can’t wait to settle down with a cuppa and go through all the quarterlies, planning some wonderful food! Congratulations…it was worth it.
Thanks so much, Beatrice. I was at the point of hurling my computer across the room trying to deal with the Kindle upload. It gets worse with each edition. The translation from PDF to Kindle for the books worked fine, but the quarterlies have been a nightmare. Something has clearly changed. Kindle works well for text-heavy books but is increasingly impossible for the fixed-format needed for picture-heavy publications.
I love that Europe still has the maypole tradition. There is something very soothing about continuing with traditions grounded in the seasons, that don’t involve technology!
I’ve sung “Round and round the maypole, like a teddy bear” for hours on end with my own kids and the grandbabies. With each squeal of delight as we “tickly under there” the demand is “again”, palm extended for more “round and round”.

Love this new format Helen – it is perfect! Full screen desktop/laptop is definitely the best. I happily went through all three quarterlies tonight and they are all gorgeous (although I am sucker for Christmas)! A just-right mix of beautiful tablescapes, recipes, and your love of castles. Lovely!

I use InDesign to create the layout, which I then export as a PDF.
The PDF is then translated by Flippingbooks.com to create the flip book.
