Adam and I made a number of grain salads during his stay, and the Barley Salad with Green Apples, Grapes and Cheddar called to mind the vivid green in this antique Ironstone pattern. I love the combination of apple green with deep navy – so unusual.
I was tempted to use green hydrangea as the decor, but elected to go with the same fruit as the salad, with a few limes thrown in for texture.
The Ironstone dessert set includes a fairly large footed compote and four flat serving dishes, so I pressed a few of those into service.
The navy under plates are Pacifica, a new pattern from Williams Sonoma, also the source for the striped napkins, although those are from a few years ago. The rattan place mats are from Pier One and the cutlery is Berry and Thread from Juliska. The deep blue glasses are iced tea Old Williamsburg Blue by Imperial Glass from Replacements, Ltd.
