Some holiday traditions are stitched right into our childhood memories, and It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is undeniably one of them. Decades later, Charles M. Schulz’s beloved characters still charm us with their wide-eyed sincerity, dry humour, and heart-tugging seasonal misadventures.

Long-time readers are aware that Halloween is not my favourite holiday, but when I stumbled across these vibrant Peanuts Halloween linens — filled with familiar scenes, costumes, and falling leaves — I knew Entertablement was hosting a table this year.  (Regrettably, the table throw and napkins from Pottery Barn are sold out).

The Tablecloth That Does All the Talking

Rather than build a centrepiece that competes with the artwork, I let the cloth shine.

Linus waits faithfully in the most “sincere” pumpkin patch…

…Snoopy soars heroically as the Flying Ace…

…and the trick-or-treaters parade by— pillowcases at the ready.

Bright bursts of orange, gold, black, and red keep the table feeling festive and animated.

A large grapevine pumpkin layered with fall foliage and berries sits at the centre, echoing the rustic grin of a freshly harvested patch without overshadowing the illustration underneath.

Simple Black Plates for Bold Design

When linens are this detailed, solid dinnerware is your friend. Matte black plates ground the palette, providing a sleek surface that lets everything else pop.

Folding the napkins to reveal different Peanuts vignettes adds instant charm…

…and gives guests their own moment of cartoon nostalgia.

Pumpkins & Leaves (With Sparkle!)

I couldn’t resist adding a sprinkle of whimsy. Mini glitter pumpkins (Pier 1, many Halloweens ago) rest on Vietri leaf plates in four autumnal colours.

They’re playful little sculptures — and the shimmer catches beautifully in natural afternoon light.

Amber Swirl Glasses

The Williams-Sonoma amber swirl goblets (another older favourite) add warmth and movement to the setting. Their caramel-hued glow transitions easily from Halloween to Thanksgiving — a good reminder that versatile glassware is worth tracking down when you see it.

A Little Behind-the-Scenes Peek…

If things have seemed a touch quieter around here lately, it’s because I’ve been immersed in publishing Entertablement: Twelve Months at the Table, my next book project. Proofs, printers, and page layouts are finally behaving themselves.  I’ll share more details soon, but for now, here’s a little peek at the cover. I’m so excited to show you what’s coming!

Why Peanuts Still Works

Maybe it’s because we all were a Linus or Lucy or Sally at some point. Or maybe Schulz perfectly distilled the sweet-spooky anticipation of childhood Halloween. Whatever the reason, setting this table reminded me that joy is often rooted in the simplest rituals:

Funny costumes. Too much candy. A crisp night.
And the hope that this might be the year the Great Pumpkin appears.

Wishing you a cozy, pumpkin-spiced Halloween season — however you choose to celebrate!
