Whenever my son Adam and wife, Annie come for dinner, my go-to choice is antique blue & white transferware. It’s Annie’s favourite because it reminds her of childhood trips to Williamsburg, Virginia.

Seeing the table set with the lovely, softly-coloured blue plates and bowls always produces a big smile.  What we are eating for dinner is secondary in her mind!

This time I chose a cheerful yellow tablecloth with a blue hydrangea pattern, added olivewood cutlery and antique wheel-cut wine glasses from Elise Abrams Antiques.  The soup bowls and plates are Gothic Ruins by Charles Meigh and were purchased at  Country Dining Room Antiques.
