Spring is in the air!
Let the nesting begin.
For now, we may have to content ourselves with birds and butterflies of a painted nature, but we know they’ll be here in the flesh very soon. As my granddaughter, Juliana is fond of asking, “For real?”
For real.
This table sprang to life with a small bouquet of anemones (a lucky and rare find in this neck of the woods). Their faint violet-pink tones lead me to dig out the silk bird scarf, and that lead to Wedgwood Williamsburg Aviary plates. A table was hatched, so to speak.
The brown transferware vintage Spode pitcher is one of a pair, one larger than the other, each with slightly different scenes.
The lantern was a gift from the mother of the bride as a thank you for the flowers and cupcakes we prepared for her daughter’s fall wedding. The cream tracery on the lanterns features flowers and birds – in happy coordination with the rest of the flora and fauna.
I have only four of the olivewood egg cups…
… and two Hartley Greens creamware egg cups with pierced saucers. Together, they were enough to set a cozy table for six.
The soft pastel shades of the speckled hollow eggs made a charming addition.
Ok birdies, get cracking.
My Venetian “basket glasses” are getting a lot of use this spring.
I’m happy to report that the whirl of tidying, purging and decluttering last weekend was a success. The house has been spruced within an inch of its life and objects are starting to shrink back as my eye lights on them lest they be whisked onto the recycling pile. Glenn has begun the annual power washing routine, starting with the porch. I’ll be hauling the cushions out this weekend when we are rumoured to have temperatures in the low 50s. Certainly warm enough to sit out, albeit bundled up.
It’s also the weekend we “Spring Forward”. Hooray!!! Happy days are here, again!
I’m sharing this post with Between Naps on the Porch.
Helen I adore the colour scheme and fine detail in those white plates. So beautiful!!!!!
Set my table anytime !!!

Thanks, Jenn! Bird themed tableware is always a winner in my books.
Very pretty. I love the olivewood egg cups. The grain of the wood is so beautiful. Italian? My daughter did a semester in Italy and there was a little shop filled to overflowing with olivewood treasures in the town where she lived. I think the chargers are so unusual. All of the table is great.
Hi Lorri,
The olive wood egg cups were from Italy, which is why I have only four. Suitcase space is limited!
The chargers were from Country Dining Room antiques – gotta be 20 years ago. They’ve held up well.
Hope all is well with you and all your furry friends.
