Now, who is that peeking out from behind the carrots?
Oh my! It’s a fluffle of bunnies who have come to enjoy a veritable feast of greenery and vegetables.
Perhaps they wanted to visit with their Bunny Toile friends on plates by Jay Willfred.
This charming pattern was active from 2005 to 2014 and comprised a dinner plate, four square salad plates and many different serving pieces. The canister set is particularly appealing, but so far, there are no bites on eBay or elsewhere.
I’m definitely suffering from spring fever and had so much fun setting this bunny-filled table.
The bunny figurines are different from Wayfair: a pair and a set of three. They previously starred in a table I created for Much Depends on Dinner, nestled among antique Copeland Spode Rabbit plates in an unusual burgundy colour.
The Tower pattern graces the border of the 1908 Copeland Spode plates, and four different hand-painted rabbit scenes grace the centre.
Our carved wooden figurines are clearly multi-season bunnies, happy to cosy up to multiple types of foliage.
The bunnies are thrilled to get another outing surrounded by delicious vegetables reminiscent of  Mr McGregor’s garden.
The glasses are modern, in the Arlington Viking pattern, from 1989 to 1997. The rich emerald colour and sturdy nature of the water goblet fit right in with the garden theme.
Moss figurines were a fun addition.
And I had plenty of vegetables and herbs for several meals!
Thank goodness winter is behind us, and spring is on the way. Alleluia.
Thank you for coming! I hope you enjoyed the party.
The clocks sprang forward last night, but our bedroom clock did not. We drowsily shushed the dogs, who were agitating to be let out and fed at what the clock said was 7 am. We were confident that we had an hour “in the bag”, so to speak, and that it was only 6 am, though an hour past when we usually get up. Uh, no. Poor dogs and their bursting bladders. We owe them one! They were so good.
Ha – that daylight savings thing is so confusing! 🙂 Glad your dogs were patient and you got your extra sleep! Your bunny table is really darling – I love the toile plates, especially, and the vegetables. What a fun idea! Thanks for the spring inspiration – I can’t wait for it to start warming up!
Thanks, Barb. Spring tables are so inspiring! Even if I’m outside, freezing to death, while setting them, it’s a happy sign of things to come. Hope all is well with you!
Dear Helen, I just adore those bunnies–so different from the usual too-cutesy–the trio look real. And the “moss” snail! Speaking of which, when I dug out last year’s soil from a pot on the terrace, I found hundreds of slug eggs just waiting for the right temperature. Grrrr… We’ve had a very early spring; the daffs will bloom next week, about 2 weeks early. The cherry tree is a mass of delicate pale pink puffs. I do love spring, and I run out each morning to see what has come up. Hope you do too.
Hi Beatrice,
The bunnies stole my heart for just the reason you cite—they aren’t overly whimsical.
Aren’t you glad you dug down into that soil and removed what might have turned into a munching mess? Yuck!!! Slugs are utterly voracious.
Our daffodils are growing apace, but still in “pod” form. A bit of warmth and we will have blooms everywhere. They seem to love the sandy soil in the the Cape, so we are awash with them by the end of March. Like the UK, the blooming season lasts a long time. I can’t wait!!!
I’ve been watching the buds on all the flowering trees during our morning walks and they’re getting fatter by the day. Very soon we will have blossoms, too.
Oh, glorious spring. 🙂
What a delightful spring table with your fresh vegetables, bunnies, moss figurines, the charming plates. All of the elements sing spring! So inspiring.
Thanks, Angie! Slowly but surely, spring is arriving. Glad you liked the table.
